I love life~

I came across PICBADGES http://www.picbadges.com and learnt that there are many ribbons in accordance to awareness.

Here, I support some of them.

Breast cancer is one of the leading cancers that affects women worldwide. At least 1 in every 19 women in Malaysia is at risk of having breast cancer in her lifetime. The Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) was founded in January 1986 by medical specialists who realised the need for peer support for women with breast cancer. So support red ribbon every October!

Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among women in this region caused by persistent infection with a very contagious virus called HPV (human papillomavirus). In Malaysia, it is the 3rd most common among Malaysian females. National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) aims at educating and creating awareness about cervical cancer. Currently, a vaccine targeting HPV 16 and HPV 18 can be potential to prevent up to 70% of cervical cancers. So even if you are vaccinated it doesn’t mean you are 100% safe as there are 15 cancer causing HPV types.

Ovarian cancer is a cancerous growth arising from different parts of the ovary. Most (>90%) ovarian cancers are classified as “epithelial” and were believed to arise from the surface (epithelium) of the ovary. However, recent evidence suggests that the Fallopian tube could also be the source of some ovarian cancers. Since the ovaries and tubes are closely related to each other, it is hypothesized that these cells can mimic ovarian cancer. Other types arise from the egg cells (germ cell tumor) or supporting cells (sex cord/stromal).

According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.4 million people living with HIV, including 2.1 million children. Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. So I support red ribbon!

So, come, join me to support all these campaign...
