I love life

I love life~

I came across PICBADGES http://www.picbadges.com and learnt that there are many ribbons in accordance to awareness.

Here, I support some of them.

Breast cancer is one of the leading cancers that affects women worldwide. At least 1 in every 19 women in Malaysia is at risk of having breast cancer in her lifetime. The Breast Cancer Welfare Association Malaysia (BCWA) was founded in January 1986 by medical specialists who realised the need for peer support for women with breast cancer. So support red ribbon every October!

Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among women in this region caused by persistent infection with a very contagious virus called HPV (human papillomavirus). In Malaysia, it is the 3rd most common among Malaysian females. National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) aims at educating and creating awareness about cervical cancer. Currently, a vaccine targeting HPV 16 and HPV 18 can be potential to prevent up to 70% of cervical cancers. So even if you are vaccinated it doesn’t mean you are 100% safe as there are 15 cancer causing HPV types.

Ovarian cancer is a cancerous growth arising from different parts of the ovary. Most (>90%) ovarian cancers are classified as “epithelial” and were believed to arise from the surface (epithelium) of the ovary. However, recent evidence suggests that the Fallopian tube could also be the source of some ovarian cancers. Since the ovaries and tubes are closely related to each other, it is hypothesized that these cells can mimic ovarian cancer. Other types arise from the egg cells (germ cell tumor) or supporting cells (sex cord/stromal).

According to UNAIDS estimates, there are now 33.4 million people living with HIV, including 2.1 million children. Started on 1st December 1988, World AIDS Day is about raising money, increasing awareness, fighting prejudice and improving education. So I support red ribbon!

So, come, join me to support all these campaign...

Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2010

I went to MidValley today and came across the Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign 2010 by Estee Lauder in collaboration with Sime Darby Specialist Centre. It is IMPORTANT to know that breast cancer is the no1 killer among females in the world!

My friend, WanChun and I was welcomed by a nurse who told us about the registration for free screening of breast cancer. Thankful both of us have healthy breast.

We came across the booth where we were explained about how to check for the breast lumps. For female, it is a necessary that we check our breast every month, the best is at the 8-10th day after menstruation. For those who are menopaused, they can check every month by taking into the regular time frame. It is important to have such awareness "Early detection. Cure. Prevention".

Breast conditions, please take note. If you notice that there are lumps, then you should go to consult doctor asap. early detection can prevent yourself from breast cancer.

Thanks for the sharing.

Besides, there were activities such as The Pink Wall, Pink Ribbon painting which were fund-rasing for charity and health talk by medical doctor. Besides, you can get the health screening promotional vouchers here.
